Donations to my # short film now at

725/2000

Yay! It makes me dream of hitting $1,000 in the first week of the campaign. Thank you all so much for coming through for me, as I imagine a future with no governments or politicians or police, and technology exists to make every village self-sufficient so capitalism is no more. We can dream of the world we want to live in!

Yay! It's always nice to wake up to good news. About 6 days after launching campaign to use # to imagine a # future, we've now raised 30% of our goal. Your generosity is touching! I still need your support to boost the drive, and donate if you can, so I can tell a story set in a world with no governments, no politicians, no police. Just ordinary folk running their lives.

A generous donation takes me a step closer to imagining a future with no central governments, no politicians, no police and where communities use restorative justice to handle crime. I'm doing this through a short film, and relying on your support to spread the word since platforms like # exclude me, due to how global finance systems are set up.

No utopia is perfect. There will always be some kind of pain, so in my # short film, a couple fight over chicken, but this is not just material for a dark comedy. It is a talk about food as the # crisis disrupts farming, with inspiration from food preservation techniques in pre-colonial cultures Help me make this film with a boost, or # if you can.

Now at 354/2000 four days after I started a campaign to use a dark comedy film to envision a # future with no central government, no politicians, no military - everyone participates in running the country and they use restorative justice to handle crime with banishment as last resort. I'm excluded from # platforms like # so I rely on you to spread the word!

Someone asked if ostracism in my shortfilm fits # I borrow from pre-colonial cultures to imagine how communities will handle crime yet there's no government/police using violence/jail in the name of justice. They will use rituals of reconciliation/restorative justice, but if a person is unrepentant/unwilling to pay compensatory fines, they get banished. Help me make this #

After today's donations, I'm about 7% funded 2days after I begin seeking your support to make a # shortfilm themed on direct democracy, community governance, and self-sustaining villages with all the goodies needed in modern life. I'm excluded from platforms like # so I'm counting on you to help spread the word, or give what you can to help me visualize this future🙏

I'm crowdfunding for my new short film, a # story focused on direct democracy, and need your support. I can't do a kickstarter since all such platforms only allow creators from particular countries, excluding mine, yet I really want to imagine a future without capitalism and central governments. There are lots of perks for each $$ you can spare!

spilled over my head and seeped into my
shattered bones so that I may no longer thirst
only starve with unrequited desire

I would’ve eaten the scorching cracked dirt
if it held your smile but
you blessed me with rain and I stand
head over heels tongue over lips
open eager mouth
to taste

I write darkly humourous short stories about a sad lady and weird surrealist sci-fi in the vein of twin peaks, and I am desperately seeking a writer's circle/community for feedback and motivation!

(I am mostly a photographer, though).

Hey everyone, I am Max, an amateur sci-fi writer. I write webnovels in the hard sci-fi genre, set in my own constructed world.

There are 3 novels, but the first one is my first published work so it is very rough, so feel free to start with the second (it's an anthology, so connections are loose). They're all free, so check them out! I will soon release the short story I didn't publish yet and start a fourth novel.

#: what's the most annoying fandom/hobby argument you've ever been involved with?

if you can, include the fandom, what the argument was about, and what the sides were

(involved doesn't have to mean actively arguing it, as long as you were there in some way, watching it, moderating a board, associated with the fandom, etc, although it's more interesting if it's an argument you were actually engaged in)

We #
Because we’re opposites
You push
I pull
You say “fuck it!”
I say “let’s think about this”
You are social
People scare me
You lift us into the air
I stop us floating off

Our contests
Our matches
Ignite sometimes
Your will
My will
Never serious
Our demonstrations of trust
You can give
I can take
Or vice versa
Because what good is being a beacon
On the shoreline of each others lands
If we aren’t also rocks
To crash our waves against?

I wrote this little thing about my worst nightmare, forgetting faces of people I've met, especially being the introverted kind of artist who rarely socializes, and yet has to attend events where I must meet and be nice to many people. Perhaps you can relate?

On Friday, I published my second novel, a sequel to my first. They are contemporary sci-fi stories about psychic powers, set against a backdrop of our modern struggle against the climate crisis and corporate corruption. I hope you will pick them up and if you enjoy them, please do leave me a review!

The cover of my second novel. A digital painting, by me, of a woman standing with her back to us, at the edge of a bay, silhouetted in front of a bright, pink and turquoise city scape at night. The sky looks overcast, with painterly textures in purple and blue, and forms the background for the book's title, in large, straight letters: "Subject Beta".

Delighted to be included in this: "Seeing in Tongues" is a huge anthology of contemporary visual poetry, edited by James Knight - 350 pages, full colour, and available now:

A book cover. Title text "Seeing in Tongues: An anthology of visual poetry. Edited by James Knight". Cover itself is a piece of visual poetry, rough green backdrop overlaid with a large pile of dark label maker cut-offs, each containing words and short phrases.

Who wants a little bit of magic in their life, this Halloween?

A world at war. A high society pretending everything is fine. A magic pixie or two.

This is the tale of Pride & Prejudice... As you've never known it.

Giving Mastodon a go, hoping this all works and makes sense. I’m Joshua, I’m doing my PhD in ecology and also do digital art, character design and creature design! I write fiction, I love bugs, I am completely scattered and inconsistent and like trying new things. I also sell my art on my etsy: https://pixelvistas.etsy.com

A toad sitting on a red spotted mushroom
A man standing by a mirror, with the reflection showing his younger self. A text box below reads ″Despite everything, it’s still you″ in the style of the game Undertale.
A man lies on the floor painting a flat, wooden duck
A woman sits on the floor of a white chamber opposite a very large spider. Her hands are on the floor in a position mimicking a spider. The chamber has a window that opens into stars.

A couple of things I need to remember when I'm being down on what I'm writing:
1) It's the first draft, love. You're just getting it down. Come on, keep going.
2) The pace of this scene will seem very different when you read it back, compared to the time you're taking to write it.
3) YOU may know the plot, you might be tired of it, but the reader doesn't know. They don't know! Have fun telling them.

Obvious, maybe, but worth reminding.

Do you have a # or # conversation you'd like people to know about? Drop the hashtag with a little bit of info in the replies and I'll boost everything I see until I can get back to more regularly sharing everybody's awesome words!✨✍️

Welcome to #, a weekly # # for mastodon.art and beyond!

Good morning, # family,

So I have another # I put out last year on the # app. It’s called “Fight of Their Lives” and it’s a # centered around the world of independent #. It took me about ten years to finally get it out of my head and out into the world. If you want to check it out, here’s the link: https://ajoara.com/sns/mnBC

I’ll be putting this novel up on # by the end of the year (contract obligations…long, dumb, infuriating story) # #

New bit of writing and a new entry on the tier list on neuroknives.com. This time I wrote a bit about cyberpunk body horror classic Tetsuo: The Iron Man. A film that, even with some stuff I take issue with, is a movie I consider to be an all timer! # # # #
