Meanwhile, on Oostmeers, Bruges. Direct Watercolor. 12"x9", 140lb Arches Cold Press.

The sun definitely won at hide-and-seek for the couple days I visited, but the city still displayed it's charms

Back of apartments from Drogersdijk. Direct Watercolor. 12"x9", 140lb Arches Cold Press.

# # # # # # # #
Watercolor painting of back of apartments buildings seem from the walking path along Drogersdijk in Scheveningen, The Hague. Various small, white and cream compartments of the back of apartments are stacked together with varying windows and back entries. Pipes and poles jut out in tilted directions, with some having strings of lights swooping between. Numerous angled shadows of blue and purple are cast against the compartments from a misty morning sun to the right, out of view, and hanging in a teal sky above the apartments. In the foreground is a red and ochre brick wall separating the viewer from the apartments. The whole is left without detail, allowing various shapes of color to prop up the apartments behind.

Introducing Pardy Durr, choreographer extraordinaire, wanted throughout the universe for teaching illegal dance moves. Partial to an all in one unitard, Pardy has been caught teaching 'The Malodorous Pinkle', 'Fimp Fomp' and the devastating move, 'The Spritzer'.

I have a new public membership post all about how I painted this chap, you can find that here: https://membership.emilyhare.co.uk/wanted-across-the-universe-for-illegal-dance-moves/

watercolour painting, plain texture pale background. Grey alien with four arms and two legs wearing a red leotard with a yellow flash emblem on the front. Top two arms are stretched up in a hands open to the sky gesture and the bottom two arms are bent at the elbow as if 'hands on hips' except the wrists of those hands are resting on his ribs, rather than hips. Very jaunty posture. The alien has no nose and a smirk on his face and black shiny eyes and bald head.
Close up of grey alien face, watercolour painting, pursed lips and large glossy black eyes. No nose. He is wearing a red leotard which you can see part of in the picture with a flash emblem in gold on the front.

Close up of middle of the body of this grey alien in a red leotard. You can see the hands pressed, wrist in to his hips, and the crinkles in the leotard fabric at his waist where it bends. There is a gold flash emblem on his chest. You can also see his foot to the right of the image and it has an extended part at the toe, a little like a medieval shoe!

Corner of Cliff Street and Rte 100. Direct Watercolor. 20"x16", 140lb Arches Rough.

Starting to actually like the daunting-ness of going direct with a large format. Sometimes what comes out doesn't seem totally like my "style" - such as this - but I made it so it's in there somewhere. Fun to explore.

Watercolor painting of a large grouping of apartments where Cliff Street and Route 100 meet in Stowe, Vermont. The large white clapboard buildings are dappled in purple shadows of Autumn from the surrounding trees and telephone poles, though only a single telephone pole is seen in the foreground before the buildings. The telephone pole is to the right and has two orange traffic signs on its lower half; the upper sigh shows the motif of a fire engine, while the lower sign has indescript lettering. In the middle, lower half of the scene are parking spots and a car seen from the back. The apartment buildings have various windows in, with the building in the back having the most uniform collection.

An abstract watercolor painting featuring four color fields in loosely defined horizontal rows, vaguely reminiscent of a landscape.from top to bottom the color fields are a reddish pink, forest green, yellow ochre, dark Prussian blue. The entire painting has a series of bright white splatters that criss cross over the entire painting.

#! I named my monstrous new friend a Houdozzitephen.

This awesome beaft is found both on the family's crest & in its motto:

It turns out that I wasn't quite finished with my Happy Goat.

Using the wet-on-wet watercolour base, I added more depth, then gouache paints for more definition on the body. Plus details with a white Gelly Roll pen.

I was pleased to find out that my old gouache paints still work, though they're thicker than I remember.
