A totally and most definitely unstaged photo of my travel painting workspace for posting on a social media platform that is totally and most definitively not Instagram.

A digital artist's virtual world tour

Being interested in geography and travelling, I decided to participate in an art challenge involving geographical prompts for the entire month of August.

This is Bøsdalafossur waterfall, the outlet from Sørvágsvatn lake in the Faroe Islands.

The lake sits 40m above sea level, surrounded by cliffs that hem it in, and looks for all the world like it's warped spacetime to inhabit this position.

The lake and sea are both eerily calm with matching shades of blue. The subtle criss-crossing waves appear in a different direction in the lake compared to the sea, and the lake is surrounded by green-tinged land atop the cliffs, creating the impression that the lake has been badly photoshopped into place.

We arrived at the "lake with no name" late afternoon. At the exit of the lake a delightful stream fell out of the hidden valley. Don't normally take a tripod with me but yesterday I did. This meant I could slow the shot down to slow speed and close the aperture right down. Came as a complete surprise when I saw the subsequent image and the path made by water droplets seemingly jumping out of the stream. A memorable place.

Dusty atmosphere at Jökulsárlón, #. Can you see the the boat(s)?

Some multicolored ice blocks are swimming in the water. The dusty fog supports a gloomy feeling. At least two boats are in the water.

One of my early works. A cityscape of Ulm, Germany. Watercolor and colored pencil. Created 20+ years ago, a gift for my husband. Inspired by our travels together, painted with a love of # # and this beautiful city.

A burst of color is needed during these chilly winter days. A favorite # from a September visit to Southern Oregon. ❤️

It's # so here's famous # in # although not from the usual angle that most people take the shot. This is from lower down and closer to another of its shallower drops, although clearly still deep enough and with enough water flow to generate decent clouds of spray into the air over the rift in the #.

A cloudy day with a chilly feel to it. The landscape we're looking at is rocky cliffs and surfaces but mostly covered in short grass and moss to lend everything a coarse velvet look in pale greens and browns and yellows. A wide river is running through the landscape from the left but it terminates suddenly in the centre of the view in a drop; a rupture in the land into which the water is flowing fast enough to throw up spray that obscures how deep it falls and also produces a cloud of vapour over the split. On the sheer cliffs to the right of the view we can see people lined along its top; clearly a path leading away from this viewing position close to the waterfall.

Photography of a commuter walking down the stairs at Surrey Quays Overground Station. This was one of my main stations as I child, so despite the change I always nostalgically refer to this as the East London Line on the Underground.

Gathering at Old Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey. Watercolor painting, 16x20.

This painting combines my love of # # # & #. Loved watching the pelicans at Fisherman's Wharf. The reflections in the windows seem like little abstract paintings.
I loved drawing and painting all the details.

The reconstructed entrance of the Umayyad Palace on Amman's citadel hill gives a small glimpse of what the whole palace might have been like in the 8th century. Lots of atmospheric clouds but fortunately no rain during the visit.

Can you see the #?

Here's a super old # I still like a lot! It was inspired by a band called „The Princess and the Pearl,“ (they had a # page!). I think I'm inspired by music a lot subconsciously but this is one of the few times where a particular band had a direct influence on an illustration.

AQUAMAN WAS HERE
A Guarda, Spain

The Cetárea da Redonda is a traditional construction from the late 19th century that was used as a seafood farm for lobsters and other crustaceans. Its operation was simple: during high tide the sea water entered the enclosure and then left during low tide. This is how seafood was kept alive.

Merzouga, Erg Chebbi desert

Morocco

It is said that if you respect and appreciate nature, it will reach you deep inside and show you its treasures. At least that's what I think. And I think the desert did it to us that sunset in which the sky exploded, concentrating the few clouds we saw during the trip over the great dune of Merzouga and everything turned red. There, in the middle of the dunes, surrounded by sand and nothing, the desert showed us its red heart. Or so the legend says...
