From top left to the entire bottom a strip in the rainbow colours. The rainbow colours say in English, German and Dutch: Who is afraid of diversity? The rest of the page is filled with drawings of faces straight from the front, I have done my best to portray a very diverse group there. The faces are made up by me, sometimes inspired by an existing person.

In between bigger projects, I enjoy animating and drawing simple loop effects. While these take a lot of time to create, I love the process!

A left hand holding a pencil drawing on A5 paper in landscape orientation. The many twines and leaves of a wisteria are leaning on and hanging over a wooden fence.

The power was out for a few hours today. Thankfully, it didn’t go to waste as I continued to work on this pencil illustration! Behold orcs and goblins, the mallard is airborne!

Want to hear a story? (thread)
Every piece of art actually has two stories - the one I tell you, and the one that actually happened.

Here’s what actually happened for this piece - The Flickerjaw Snare Shark, the 1st creature I made for Astra Fauna!

It was Aug2018 and I REALLY wanted to make concept art for films. I decided that I’d make a personal project that showcased my creature design abilities...

Just to be clear - my avatar is not me. This is a # drawing using 2B and HB pencils. This toffee-nosed gentlemen is the type of character seen in the Punch Magazine, although my rendition somewhat differs from the original.

And here comes Wednesday with a new batch of sketches. :ablobcatrave:

I'm so excited! Despite trawling many museum websites for portraits I hadn't found a consistent source for portraits of Black people in late 1800s yet. Then I came across Mangum Hugh's work. https://repository.duke.edu/dc/hmp

Unfortunately names and dates were lost to time, but at least it's not on purpose. He seemed very respectful of his subjects.

Don't have the energy for painting today, but I did manage to make some thumbnails.

# # #
Three pencil sketches of a tree, reaching out over a canal. Lamps are hanging suspended from the branches. The bottom sketch is much more refined than the others, but it doesn't have ducks like the left one, so it is debatable which one is best.

:blobfoxwink: Small pencil drawing trick to get deeper shadows. Besides the pencil you'll need a white gel pen or similar.

When the paper can't take it anymore or you need to push the graphite down a value you can apply a white ink layer, remove the excess, let it dry then draw over it. It'll be a colder hue, but it soaks up the graphite very well with minimal force.

I'm not entirely sure how it holds up on the long run, but two months in it seems good so far!
