Autumn Owl

Nothing like a wise owl to keep me company on a crisp autumn day. Such a cool experience, I really enjoy seeing owl's out in nature and truly enjoyed photographing this barred owl resting while traveling the Natchez Trace in north MS.

I do not only draw in digital, i also love working this inks, even thou i haven't been able to in a looooong while.
This two pics are from an old inktober challenge and still very dear to me!!

He's holding a flute in his hands and has a sweet smile. He's under a tree with flowers and the full moon behind him.

I made this owl in flight cyanotype using vintage lace, a stencil I cut, and some “wood wool” packaging (tangled nest of long thin shavings which were used in a gift box of fancy hot chocolate complete with ceramic mugs). I like how the shape of the lace gave me a round owl face with radiating feathers and the scribbled lines texture from the packaging!

In Greek mythology, a little owl represents or accompanies Athena and has become known as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom attesting to the staying power of the Olympians. The whispers of Athena's legacy are everywhere.

The symbology of the owl has often inspired my own journey. The ability to see through the darkness of life and find knowledge is a potent totem.

My latest painting: a character I did for a D'n'D art class. This dude has bad eye sight but can see through other beings. He’s a healer and good to have around if you put an axe in your foot, but could also stop your heart if you come at him. Messes with people’s perception of reality. Stingy yet bad with money. Sore loser. Witch.
