Traveling in the near future. Would love to paint scenery. Watercolor, acrylic and gouache aren't my favorites.

Oil painters:
Has anyone flown international with a 4oz bottle of linseed in carry on? I'm not going to bother with turpenoid. I dont want the headache.

Does it have to have a name brand label or can it be in a pill bottle? 🥴
Any problems flying? I cant mail things to myself or buy at destination. Ty in advance.

Oil on canvas panel, 30x40cm.

Painting such saturated and intense colours was a quite an experience!

Geoengineered (2018). Oil on Canvas, can't remember the exact size of the painting but it's massive. I'm eventually going to get it shipped from LA for gallery shows in europe.
The theme of the painting is about the impossible choice of either seeing your grandchildren struggle with heat, or struggling to explain to them why the sky is no longer blue, and what all those abandoned solar arrays were for. In the distance, the silhouette of Chevron's oil giant, who caused most of this.

Good morning friends - we have important decisions to make!
This is a little Birthday present # I'm making.

Do you think the right frog needs to wear a party hat? Or is that just too much silliness?
If yes, what colour?

Two little frogs are sitting in two big floating tires. One Tire is orange with blue stripes and the other one red with small blue flowers. There are plants in the background and small water lily leaves around them.

My first proper oil painting (i.e. not an oil study I made without a clear plan, but a thought-out composition and everything). Just submitted this along with the teapot painting to a local gallery, fingers crossed.

A view from a high vantage point along a long (North American?) city street which stretched out into the distance. The traffic all appears to be heading towards the viewer. Tall skyscraper type building line both sides, as dona large number of trees.<br /><br />The buildings are all coloured more vividly than may be expected, and towards the top most of them curve towards the long street. This gives a slightly unrealistic, dreamlike effect.<br /><br />This took far far longer than I intended. Good job I enjoy doing the fine detail when necessary.

I did this painting in 2019 and it is one of my favorites. I usually don't say that about my own work ;).

This was the first painting I did with waterbased oil paint. I was looking for a new medium, because acrylic paint dries too fast for me and I have used this as my primary medium ever since.

For folks new to me, I'm Andy, and I'm a painter of nocturnal cityscape paintings, predominantly of Sheffield, UK. [see photos]

Two paintings, painted realistically showing night scenes. The first painting shows 3 traffic lights of z crossing, on a road surrounded by trees. The second image shows Andy holding onto a painting he's made of a busstop , with pavement and road tarmac showing. In the background is a concrete building and a street light can be seen shining through the perspex glass of the busstops roof.
Again, two paintings are shown. On the left, Andy holds a very quiet and still painting of a lone street light surrounded by shadow and mist.<br /><br />The second shows a house in darkness, silhouetted against a brooding dark sky. A street light sits at the front of the building and is surrounded by scaffolding, its light shows the building is being repaired.
On the left, a painting shows a view of tramtracks going into the distance. On the horizon, a blueish bright light contrasts against the much darker sky and shadows of trees, pylons, and fencing.<br /><br />On the right, a bus stop fills the picture. The angles are quite sharp, so the painting has a gothic expressionist feel. A bright light lights the bus stop from behind. But the rest of the background that fills the picture is dark and half formed.
The painting on the left shows step leading up to some kind of enclosed metal bridge.the steps are surrounded by wooden fencing and metal handrails that come together making the whole picture look skeleton like. A warm light shines from the left, a bluish ligh sits on the right, both give the scene a strange warm, pink/purple glow.<br /><br />The painting on the right shows a tall, looming building in dark silhouette against a night sky. Surrounding it are much lower buildings and city street lights. The contrast between the building's size and style is huge. A strange gothic feeling of looming castles is evoked though what is seen is contemporary.

Create art in any media from any of the photos & post with the above tags.

Mapcrunch shows random images from Street View. They aren’t perfect views, they are ideas to get you creating anything from a quick sketch to a full work.

They are open to interpretation & modification. It’s like being at a location and then selecting a composition.

Change them, add or remove things, whatever artistic licence you like.

@Curator and all... At the risk of getting inundated...

I wonder if any of the brilliant artists here on .art or elsewhere have either their own or recommendations for a # or a complete # on painting. My own current interest is in # painting, but in the long term I'm interested in # and # too.

Oil painting of a man looking out to the viewer. He has short dark hair with streaks of blue lighting on the right hand side. The background is blue and purple flowers. The man's face has textured brushstrokes making up the skin, which is in hues of pinks and blues. He has a beard. The shirt is left unpainted while drips of purple run down from the flowers above.

A new digital oil painting.

I painted this one more like an abstract painting rather than a landscape painting, particularly with regard to the valley and the plain beyond.

# # #
A view down a shallow valley towards a large area of flat land. The valley is undeveloped, and the rolling grassy (moor land) landscape varies from green, through yellow, to orange, brown and even pink. This variation of colour indicates variety of vegetation, and also that the sun is randomly peaking through a cloudy sky. This cloudy sky is visible in the distance beyond a mostly nondescript flat plain, on which there are very vague hints of human habitation.

Ok - this oil painting is finished, apologies if I spammed you with the in progress photos. It is entitled “Frozen in space and time” and is painted with water-mixable oils on canvas. It is quite large! It’s for sale if you want it (£1500). Also you can support me at https://ko-fi.com/chloegilbertartist # # # #

New painting: Fence Line, oil on wood panel, 40 x 50cm, available through https://artachart.com/ # # # # #
Abstract oil painting on wood panel, 40 x 50cm, depicting a gold and ochre hillside or cliff, with suggestion of dwellings along the ridge and a loose dark line coming down to the foreground. The intent was to give the impression of a fence and gate, but equally, the shapes could form the wreck of a boat on the shore. It's very much up to the viewer. Cloudy sky, with hints of turquoise and orange; splashes of bright orange, gold, turquise and dark brown or umber across the composition.
The same painting, but viewed from further back, hanging on the wall.

I'm guessing part of the reason Mastodon.art banned AI art is that in the time it takes an artist to create a single work of art, thousands of people around the world pump out thousands of AI images via text prompts and flood social media with them. This buries work made by real artists. Case in point: Instagram. You can't do a search for art without it returning mostly AI art now. It's very difficult to find real art there, which is (one of the many reasons) it's unusable now. I've even tried using tags like # and I STILL get AI art. I don't want that to happen to Mastodon.

My cat resting by a window to the garden. Oil painting, 16x20.

This is the one time I painted Rainbow, our calico. As she enjoyed the sunlight at the window, I thought this would make a nice composition. It's one of my first oil paintings. I'm planning more cat paintings this year.

A new digital oil painting.

The dry-stone wall/buildings are prevalent on the moorland about 20 miles north of where I live.

The purplish clouds are also fairly typical.

# # #
A dry-stonevwall running diagonally (from the bottom left) up towards (and then beyond) a windowless, dry-stone farm building with a slate roof. All the stonework is tinged yellow by moss. Beyond the wall are the rolling green hills of cultivated farmland. In front of the wall is long orange/brown of moorland grass. Patches of blue peak out from behind heavy clouds. The clouds overhead are very dark rain clouds; the clouds in the distance are a lighter (less ominous) grey colour. The sun is not visible, but obviously to the left of the viewer.

Finished painting this tonight. took me a while. It was honestly more depressing than I thought it would be. This is Carkeek Park in Seattle WA in October 2022 during the worst day for the fire smoke. My eyes were burning taking photos, I had my mask on the entire time and turned fully grey by the time I was home.

F4(333 × 242 ㎜) Oil on canvas 2021.September
by tokio suzuki

This apple was drawn using the characteristics of oil paint. It was my first time to draw with multiple layers of colors. When I look at it now, I regret that I have to make more changes to the background.

Speaking of apples, we are now connected by apple(iMac,iPhone and other...).
It seems like a matter of course, but it was unthinkable 20 years ago.

It is a fig that grew on the front of an empty house. It's fresh when it's just picked, but it's slow to draw, so it's decaying by the time it's finished. That's sad. I'm sorry.
