Went to my regular head hunt this morning and made this. Last time I used a very limited palette, today I unleashed the whole rainbow. Funny how it just gets greyer lol
Work In Progress Nocturne, Calçada de Sao Francisco, Lisbon Oil On Linen 18” x 24”
I sort of thought this had been finished, but for some reason I didn't sign or varnish it yet. Then I looked over at it, and thought, what was I thinking? It needs SO MUCH work! Now I am trying to actually finish it. A ways to go still, but closer.
I was invited by a friend to paint at this place that has all those old industrial buildings because they knew I like that stuff. Unfortunately the whole place was really boring and I didn’t like the buildings very much so not to have the trip wasted I plopped down my easel and painted a bush in front of some compound. I do like how the painting came out, color and composition wise.
Traveling in the near future. Would love to paint scenery. Watercolor, acrylic and gouache aren't my favorites.
Oil painters: Has anyone flown international with a 4oz bottle of linseed in carry on? I'm not going to bother with turpenoid. I dont want the headache.
Does it have to have a name brand label or can it be in a pill bottle? 🥴 Any problems flying? I cant mail things to myself or buy at destination. Ty in advance.
Ich glaube, ich habe heute eine Palettenbox für weitere Experimente in der Zukunft gebaut. Irgendwie wird man als KünstlerIn ein Multitalent: Holzbauer, Handwerker, Materialtester, Chemiker... 😆 #kleinekunstklasse #oilpainting #MastoArt #pleinair
Geoengineered (2018). Oil on Canvas, can't remember the exact size of the painting but it's massive. I'm eventually going to get it shipped from LA for gallery shows in europe. The theme of the painting is about the impossible choice of either seeing your grandchildren struggle with heat, or struggling to explain to them why the sky is no longer blue, and what all those abandoned solar arrays were for. In the distance, the silhouette of Chevron's oil giant, who caused most of this. #OilPainting
My first proper oil painting (i.e. not an oil study I made without a clear plan, but a thought-out composition and everything). Just submitted this along with the teapot painting to a local gallery, fingers crossed.
I did this painting in 2019 and it is one of my favorites. I usually don't say that about my own work ;).
This was the first painting I did with waterbased oil paint. I was looking for a new medium, because acrylic paint dries too fast for me and I have used this as my primary medium ever since.
Sri Lanka, 2019, me. Waterbased oil on canvas, 30x40cm
hi everyone! i'm alive and well, just haven't been doing a lot of new work. since there are some folks just migrating to the fediverse, maybe i'll re-introduce myself!
i'm an #artist and #cartoonist focused mostly on physical/traditional media. i've been very interested in #OilPainting lately, but i also work in #acrylic, #ink, #pastel, and #linocut printing, among other things. i don't always post a lot, but i have new stuff to show now and then.

Mapcrunch shows random images from Street View. They aren’t perfect views, they are ideas to get you creating anything from a quick sketch to a full work.
They are open to interpretation & modification. It’s like being at a location and then selecting a composition.
Change them, add or remove things, whatever artistic licence you like.
This could be one of the peaceful, romantic alleys in my small town, where Time lingers to drink in the scent of the blooming lindens and the colors of the rose bushes.
@Curator and all... At the risk of getting inundated...
I wonder if any of the brilliant artists here on .art or elsewhere have either their own or recommendations for a #tutorial or a complete #course on painting. My own current interest is in #acrylic painting, but in the long term I'm interested in #oilpainting and #watercolor too.
Ok - this oil painting is finished, apologies if I spammed you with the in progress photos. It is entitled “Frozen in space and time” and is painted with water-mixable oils on canvas. It is quite large! It’s for sale if you want it (£1500). Also you can support me at https://ko-fi.com/chloegilbertartist #oils #painting #oilpainting #art
It is my birthday. It seems like so many years were wasted being trapped with abusive people and not being able to get away from them. Now I am finally free. I get to live and everyday feels like a miracle. #MastoArt #OilPainting
My cat resting by a window to the garden. Oil painting, 16x20.
This is the one time I painted Rainbow, our calico. As she enjoyed the sunlight at the window, I thought this would make a nice composition. It's one of my first oil paintings. I'm planning more cat paintings this year.
Finished painting this tonight. took me a while. It was honestly more depressing than I thought it would be. This is Carkeek Park in Seattle WA in October 2022 during the worst day for the fire smoke. My eyes were burning taking photos, I had my mask on the entire time and turned fully grey by the time I was home.

This apple was drawn using the characteristics of oil paint. It was my first time to draw with multiple layers of colors. When I look at it now, I regret that I have to make more changes to the background.
Speaking of apples, we are now connected by apple(iMac,iPhone and other...). It seems like a matter of course, but it was unthinkable 20 years ago.

It is a fig that grew on the front of an empty house. It's fresh when it's just picked, but it's slow to draw, so it's decaying by the time it's finished. That's sad. I'm sorry. "There's real beauty in what's abandoned." My master left that word.
