Last chance to buy my gay shirt!

Pre-orders are open til TOMORROW (the 4th of September) at 1PM EST. It won't be available later!

I really put a lot of love into this shirt and it came out great- I hope you will like it too! I wanted to make something about how queer folks have always been around and always dreamt of better futures.

Also: gay medieval peasants.

The Siksälä belt!

This belt is inspired by a find dated between the 12th and 14th centuries, found in Siksälä, Estonia.

I love how vibrant the colors are, and how much it makes a basic outfit stand out ❤️

It will be available for purchase in the online shop soon 🛍

A reminder that we're still open to applications and participants for Coding Medieval Worlds 3: Networks and Connections!

This is our third joint # and # history workshop connecting historians and developers of medieval and medieval-fantasy games to discuss shared problems and ideas.

Are you a game developer, #, game-interested historian? We'd love to have you. The workshop is free & online.

Help boosting this/sharing to game devs you know especially very appreciated!
Coding Medieval Worlds 3: Landscapes and Backgrounds<br />Call For Participants<br />A workshop for historians & game developers: 25-26 Feb, 2023<br /><br />Historical and fantasy worlds with medieval inspirations are as much defined by what lies behind the action as what takes centre stage. People’s relationship to and reliance upon their world, its strategic and tactical importance, and who occupies it beyond the core focus: these elements are central to historical narrative and gameplay alike. How we render these worlds, too, is crucial. Soundscapes and visuals are key to immersive, interactive tales and to providing cues and grounding to game experiences. In this workshop we’ll examine these elements and more from developers’ and historians’ perspectives, and discuss tackling these shared challenges!<br /><br />When: 25th Feb & 26th Feb 2022, 1:30pm — 8pm Central European Time<br /><br />Where: Wherever you can connect to a video call!<br /><br />How to participate: Email james.baillie@oeaw.ac.at by December 31st with your name and a sentence or two on your background and interest.<br /><br />We have a limit of around 30 people, half developers and half academics (independent scholars, early career researchers, and hobbyist & indie developers are all welcome). We examine all applications and ensure places are available for scholars & developers from diverse & marginalised backgrounds. Do get in touch with any enquiries at the above email addresses.<br /><br />This workshop is a collaboration between Exilian and the University of Vienna.

One thing I’ve always enjoyed about being an online denizen for so many years, is to see how much artists’ work grows over time. I thought it would be fun to share my ancient history here, chronologically, to see if anyone finds it encouraging or interesting. Here’s part 1 of The Old Art Project because I am bad at naming things. Something from 2002, when I was 21, and something from 2021. I’ll let you do the math. 🐞🪲

An incroyable and a merveilleuse (proto-hipsters) from the late 18th century. The incroyable is a poodle and the merveilleuse is a sheep because they are fluffy. The incroyable wears a bicorn and a greatcoat and holds a tall walking stick. The merveilleuse wears a robe en chemise with a short jacket. A baggy mob cap with ostrich feathers. She carries a small reticule purse.
A noble lady from the 11th-12th century in Europe. She wears a long green kirtle (an overdress that flares from the waist, this a silvery scaled corselet (possibly leather), and a heavy brown mantle on her shoulders. She holds the band of the mantle away from the neck, in the typical style of the period, with two fingers hooked over the band. Her hair is plated in two long braids intertwined with ribbon. She wears a barbette strap under her chin, held in place with a pin at the top of her head. She wears a pale colored veil held in place with a fillet or circlet.

Hello #! A brief #.

I'm Ariela, and I'm a graduate student at the Institute of Fine Art at New York University studying # and # # history. Part of #, #, and #. I'm currently working on the performative uses of crucifixes with moving limbs as props in Passion Plays in #. I'm also interested in questions of premodern race (#) and cultural difference with respect to these performances.

Mostly posting about medieval nonsense, art history, disability justice, and my dog (named #). Occasionally posting my Halloween costumes.
