Stitched artwork depicting silver birch trees with autumnal bracken in the foreground
Stitched artwork depicting a snow scene with bare trees on the horizon. A stone wall crossed the centre and footprints lead through a gateway in it
Stitched artwork depicting a summer woodland with light and shade. A very breen pallette with tall thin tree trunks in brown/grey. Close mounted in a brown double mount. Viewed on an angle to show texture.

A new piece of embroidery on a black cloth. There is a copy of the design on transfer paper. It is a sea wolf facing a swan. In the upper right corner, a few rows of gray and black stitches are on the swan’s wing. There are some gray stitches on the lower right of the bird. The bird’s feet are yellow. End description.

It’s #! I’m a multidisciplinary artist whose visual work is # # and # #. I’m also a writer and composer.

push, pull, & tingle (2018)

An embroidery on deep purple linen. There is a purple outline of a feminine right hand from the side, palm up, fingers curled slightly inward. There are many tiny white French knots covering the fingertips and light blue, gold, and navy French knots on parts of the palm. There are fine filigree lines connecting many of the French knots and white strands of thread strung from each fingertip to an apex above the hand. There is a starburst floating above the palm in white and light blue.
Nave of Vibration (2017)

An embroidery of an inner ear done in bone white thread on dark purple linen. The centre of the spiral is labeled “nave of vibration”, the body of the inner ear is labeled “plumes of sound”, and the tubes are labeled “windows open.”
eye poem (2016)

An embroidery of the venations of the eye stitched in blues, greens, and purples on bone coloured cloth. In a circle outlining the eye is a poem that can be read starting on any word: behind her blue green eyes were fine lace webs so she could see purple mist opening.
Winter night mitosis sampler (2024)

Two reproductive cells dividing embroidered on white linen. The edges of the dividing egg cells and the nucleus membranes are in light grey split stitch. A circle of light purple stem stitch is the cell membrane. The corona radiata is in dark navy zig zag chain stitch. The nucleolus of each cell is in navy bullion stitch. The polar bodies are stitched in burgundy single strand back stitch. The cytoplasm is stitched in variegated blue/purple thread in a mix of seed stitch and French knots. Lia’s initials are stitched in white whipped back stitch.

My silk scarf mending project is making good progress!

I found some hand-dyed silk thread that almost exactly matches the scarf.

Picture shows the shimmering silk scarf in mauve, pink, inky purples, and orange-gold. Next to it is a mauve to orange-gold silk thread on an embroidery floss card.
I added an applique patch that pops against the scarf. The patch is a lavendar color against the mauve, pink, and orange-gold scarf silk fabric. The patch also covers the giant holes I'm mending.
I'll embroider a hellebore on the patch to stablize the hole and add a bit of art to it.

Picture shows a sample hellebore embroidery pattern from the book "Plant Lady Embroidery" by Applemints, from Quarry Books.

This week is #. My chronic illnesses are an invisible disability, especially #: a neuroimmune disease that has a worse quality of life measurement than any other. This # # # maps out my symptoms as they were in 2016.
Body Map (2016)

An outline of a naked woman is embroidered on linen in the same bone white colour as the linen. She stands legs together, her right hand covering her groin, her left hand, palm up, extended slightly to her side. She looks to the right. Her entire body except for her belly is covered in intricate markings representing different neurological sensations. Her face is a mask of green lines, feathery grey lines cover her shoulders and chest. There is a thick band of intricate burgundy stitching around her waist. Her forearms and hands are covered in thick blue undulant lines. Her right leg has bands of burgundy along the muscles, with small dots around them. Her inner left leg has a thick line of blue running up it, with thin branches spreading towards her outer leg.

# Day 14 • futurist • Now that it's autumn, spring feels very far in the future. Here's my spring mitosis # sampler (2024). #
Spring mitosis sampler (2024)

Two reproductive cells dividing embroidered on white linen. The edges of the dividing egg cells and the nucleus membranes are in bluish mossy green split stitch. A circle of light green stem stitch is the cell membrane. The corona radiata is pastel pink zig zag chain stitch. The nucleolus of each cell is in pastel pink bullion stitch. The polar bodies are stitched in mauve single strand back stitch. The cytoplasm is stitched in variegated pink to green thread in a mix of seed stitch and French knots. Lia’s initials are stitched in white whipped back stitch.

I finished testing my last cross stitch pattern, and I love how it came out! I wanted a spring design with vibrant colors and a lot of cuteness, so this picnic was born. I love that one chick's little butt 😭

Is anyone else ever really # of works they produce? # # # # # #
I completed a project for an upcoming exhibition and handed it in apologetically, the people arranging the exhibition were thrilled with the quality of the work I'd produced and in such a short time.
I'm not sure if it's an # thing or if it's from being constantly put down by elements I am now no contact with

Since Halloween season is still on, I'm posting today another of my embroidery pieces: the spooky angry fox. We wanted to make a menacing fox spirit whose element would be fire, looking upon his work # # # # # @Curator @embroidery

My first collaborative art project. A friend embroidered this, I need to embroider my own design, sticking to the blue colour scheme, then pass it on to someone else.#

My # and # hobbies merge in this throw pillow. I pieced the embroidery with some remnants of Essex linen. The piping and backing are made from purple shot cloth, something that had been hiding in my stash. The pillow insert is wool in organic cotton. I'm happy with the result!

Think it’ll be a few more days until I’m done with these. Can’t wait to combine all the parts and turn them into some awesome earrings. I love what I do, it’s weird and it could just be my flavour of tism, but my brain just finds complete harmony in ridiculously elaborate embroidery.

An embroidery hoop with organza backing, on top is a partly done embroidery project which uses gold threads. The bottom pieces have been entirely encased in gold thread and the top templates have additional parts added, including a lattice section with teal iridescent vinyl underneath
In this image the inner core of cotton cord and card is shown, on the far right is an example of the core covered in gold thread.
Behind all of this however, because the organza is sheer, a ragdoll cat is shown sleeping on the lap of the embroiderer.

1) # # . Mostly anatomical.
2) Cotton DMC threads on linen
3) Antique anatomical engravings and models. Especially Vesalius’ Fabrica!
4) How what most people find disturbing about anatomy (gore, symptoms) can be made intricate and beautiful.
5) I shifted from performance work to embroidery when I became disabled by chronic illness. The fact that I was able to do this while very very sick still impresses me!

Started a new @embroidery project last night, this time going to try working on my long and short/satin stitch and colour blending. :da_sweat: We'll see how it turns out!

A photo of an in-progress embroidery on a rectangular plastic hoop, placed on top of a book showing the finished design. The design is a twig of "Elton" cherries, which are more orange-coloured than red, with a few green leaves as well. The WIP has only part of the stem stitched, the rest is just blue outlines. There's a magnetic enamel needle minder that says "Don't over think it".

A friend asked me, and I didn’t have a good answer, but I’ve been wondering this myself: is there a good brand of 6-strand embroidery floss in variegated rainbow colors that’s colorfast in warm water?

(Personally, I want it for visible mending.)

So this week I’m doing phase one of # ‘s vision, I’m waiting for a cabochon to arrive to finish it but I got all the teeny tiny parts done and I’m excited to add a sumeru dendro vision to my collection!💕

An embroidery hoop with an in progress embroidery project. The backing fabric is organza which is somewhat transparent, the sewing itself is gold thread being sewn over the top of cut out templates
The same sewn parts from the previous image have been finished and cut out, then laid over the next template to plan the next part. The overall piece is based on a Sumeru Dendro vision (or magic focus object if you’re into d&d) from the game Genshin Impact

Every year I participate in GISH, an international week-long scavenger hunt where you work with your team to do a bunch of weird and wonderful challenges from a long list of tasks. This year one of the tasks I picked up was to stitch together an image of Hokusai's Great Wave on the back of a patchwork denim jacket using a Sashiko style technique. I'm really happy with the result!
