What # would # folks recommend for a new technical manager responsible for a Drupal product team? Not someone who will be in the weeds, but getting to a level of being able to understand standup, manage senior devs, and get a general understanding of the landscape?

I help maintain the # module, MaxLength, which allows site builders to set character limits on fields.

We're running usability tests to see how our recent updates are working out.

We would love your help!

Sometimes context is everything...

I've been walking past this logo everywhere for 10 days at COP 15 already... and only now I notice that it looks like a # logo

Trick question for trivia night?

For those of you who have not met us yet, Backdrop CMS enables people to build highly customized websites affordably, through collaboration and open source software.

Some people know us as that spunkly little fork of # that is focused small to medium sized businesses, non-profits, educational institutions, and companies or organizations who are in need of a comprehensive website for a reasonable price.

This is awesome. I've been working in this space for the # projects I maintain and contribute to.

For example, we defined a vision and set of values for the MaxLength module to guide design and development decisions.

We've done user research so I like the suggestion in your templates of including key findings within the contribution documentation.

@joevagyok recently joined as a maintainer of the # MaxLength module and has been a *huge* help.

When I started maintaining the project, I inherited broken test coverage.

Joe stepped in and not only fixed the existing tests, but also added test coverage for all key scenarios *and* fixed some bugs he uncovered along the way.

It's satisfying to see that green test coverage indicator again. Plus we have a confident base to continue improving MaxLength from.

there is an encouraging counter-current running, which is the growing focus and investment from # and # projects on #

When we design and resource projects for community and sustainability, rather than endless profit, we have tools that actually meet our collective needs.

# I've been a front-end developer since 1999, when I was working in a nonprofit & was asked to write HTML & CSS from scratch; I fell in love with it. Now I co-own and co-run an intentionally-sized agency that exclusively serves nonprofits called https://DevCollaborative.com, we build sites in # & # & we care a lot about # of content & code, as well as site longevity & sustainability. I live in the US New England, have too many pets, & am trying to learn acoustic guitar.

I'm super excited to see the new # focused Mastodon instance https://drupal.community . I'm going to stay where I am but I'm glad Drupal folks will have an instance to call home.

The # MaxLength module issue queue is hoppin! :bunny: 😊

It's fun as an # maintainer when a project has so much energy to it.
The MaxLength issue queue which has three fixed issues, one reviewed and tested by the community and three needing review. All of them have activity over the past two days.

The rules engine for # is now available as 1.0.0-rc1 - go and get it https://drupal.org/project/eca - ECA is another step towards more "No code - low code" access on the power of Drupal

If you use # and want to set a character limit on a field, I (w/ help from others) just released a new version of the Maxlength module.

For those hosting # sites on Pantheon and appreciate their DevOps tools, but not their steep pricing tiers, Amezmo has proven to be a good alternative.

My fifth and final post (bittersweet) in my series on Enhancing the Drupal Authoring Experience is now out.

I focus this last one on accessibility tools you can integrate into your site.

Many a11y issues are content issues, so keeping your site accessible means giving your authors the tools they need to keep it up.

Part 4 of my Enhance Your # Authoring Experience is out.

This one fine tunes Drupal's admin pages, especially the Block layout page, which can be unnecessarily overwhelming for content editors.

Part 2 of my series Enhancing Your # Website's Authoring Experience is out.

Declutter the user interface via
- Drupal's Manage Form Display feature
- Allowed Text Formats module
- Fine tuning user roles
- View Unpublished module
- Publish Content module

If you use # even just occasionally, I would love your feedback on the Maxlength module.

I've set up some usability testing tasks.

We're running these as part of the Gift of Open Source community challenge, so you could end up with things like a free t-shirt from it. :)

# has a few # checker modules available.

I tested each out and found that Editoria11y is by far the most effective and user friendly.

Looks like # sites can now be part of the fediverse! Congratulations swentel!

I recorded a tutorial on how to use the # module Entity Reference Override.

This is a handy module if you need to override the value of an entity you're referencing. For example, if you want to provide a context specific bio for an author byline or adjust the title of professor being listed on a program page.

# don't use, by default, # or # I think it has a more transparent and FLOSS orientation: where on # you need some private modules, on drupal modules are released with a # license with a public issue page, etc.

But you should think if a dynamic website, like drupal with # is over skilled or not for you...

Which # is most privacy friendly/libre? Naively installed # on my server and noticed googlefonts and gravatar as third parties without me adding them... Is # # or # any better in this regard?

For anyone going to DrupalCon next week, I'm co-organizing the Nonprofit Summit and I think it's going to be real informative. We're also setting up a directory people can opt into for networking and organizing.

Check it out!

Gonna test porting a # 7 site to # . Backdrop is much more democratic and accountable to the needs of nonprofits and movement groups, so I'm hoping it goes well...

Was looking over the latest # releases and saw "Pirate."
