Hourly comics from yesterday ✏️

It's impossible to talk about my daily life without talking about my health, so they're also disability diaries

# # # # # #
Sketchy comic reads hourly comics day - aka for me: disabled comics diaries day

If you don’t know me, I’m
- disabled and bedbound
- severe post-viral illness for 9 years
- can’t do 99% of the stuff I could before and still gutted about it.

Medical file -
> moderate-severe ME/CFS
nervous system disease that affects many parts of my body
> probably permanent, no real treatment,
> a bit like having flu all the time
> all activity makes it worse, including showering, thinking, sitting up, watching a film etc
(a doctor saying ‘yikes’)

(arrows point to my body) achy. jaw pain from gritting teeth against pain. exhausted. too ill to sit up. brain fog
Me: another beautiful day in the world
Sketchy comics, reading: in the parts of my day I’m well enough to work, I manage not to think about my health

[looking up and seeing I’m in a cage, with lots of stuff like parties, kids, cooking, travel and events out of reach]
but talking to strangers who don’t know about it always makes me feel how small and limited my life is, and diary comics are no exception

(me wild with jealousy at people healthy enough to go to the shop or do the washing up)
but I think it’s useful being honest - i like sharing my life one day of the year, especially for all the other chronically ill people and their friends out there

It's ya neighborhood Black, queer, disabled photographer Rayne! Did you know if 60 people bought one of my $10 wallpaper bundles from ko-fi per month, I could afford a bunch of basic necessities like food & transit? If folks bought prints of my work, they get my best art & help a multiply marginalized artist survive capitalism!

An asymmetrical, triangle based, 4 photo collage. From top center, clockwise, a purple african daisy, a cluster of white flowers on a tree branch in sepia, a soft pink magnolia, a tiny and brilliantly blue creeping speedwell
A four photo collage. From the top left, clockwise, a small cluster of shiny scarlet berries dripping with dew, a persimmon orange cluster of flowers, shining hexagons of ice and snow, a white african daisy poking out from behind out of focus purple daisies in the foreground

My niece is an # who has been on # for ages, her neck problems have reached the point where # is very hard for her, and doing # is what keeps her soul alive. She just had neck surgery and will be able to draw again within a few weeks, gradually over time. She cannot afford her favorite #, but she knows how to make good pigments to draw with out of any size of used pastels, particularly the high-end # or #, which she can't afford. If you know anyone who has leftovers *of those brands* or where I can acquire leftovers, will you let me know? I can send them to her.

TIA for boosting.

Fanart of Sanji and Zoro from One piece imitating the photography The Kiss of Life by by Rocco Morabito (1967). Sanji is hanged upside down in the cords of the ship and Zoro is doing mouth to mouth resuscitation while holding him and preventing him from falling. Colors are mostly blue, there is a tempest with some lighting in the background and a lot of rain.
Fanart of D. and Rogier from Elden ring. Rogier is in a weelchair and D. is standing on his side with books in his arms. They are in a library, Rogier is talking to D. probably showing him which book he want him to grab.
2 girls are stuck in a phone booth and yokai are around them, looking at them. One is terrified and the other try to make a phone call.

People say bizarre things when you're visibly disabled, so I made a video talking about some of my favourite weird things people have said to me throughout the years, accompanied by the full timelapse of my disability Sloth Month Picture

Today I discovered that not only is July # Pride Month but also that we have a flag. It is so well done and extremely meaningful. It was created by Ann Magill, a disabled writer.

The entire thing will not fit into the thumbnail but if you open the image, it will tell you what each color and flag feature stands for. It is also in the alt text if you are unable to open it.

An infographic showing the Disability Pride Month flag and what it stands for. The top reads "Disability Pride Month" and the flag is underneath it. The Disability pride flag is grey with five diagonal stripes from top to bottom with red, yellow, white, blue, and green.

Underneath it, it says what the colors stand for.
Red: bodily disability, mobility impairment, limb difference, disfigurement, chronic pain/fatigue, etc.

Yellow: Neurodiversity, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc

White: invisible disabilities and those with no known diagnosis.

Blue: emotional and psychiatric disabilities, (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc.)

Green: sensory disabilities, (including sensory processing disorders)

Grey: Mourning for those killed, neglected, and abused because of their disability.

The five-stripe bend dexter: The disability community in solidarity-- moving from the Canton (a place of honor) to the Fly (the wider world, broader society). The diagonal is also in contrast to the vertical walls and horizontal ceilings that keep us isolated.

I just figured out about alt text!
it's the little description that you add to images to make it more accessible for people with visual disabilities, and was wondering if there is any templates on how to write alt text for art or just images in general to make it easier for people new to adding descriptions of their images?

Hi! I'm a UK artist who mostly draws about disability and being a parent carer. For example, here is today's drawing, part of my Carers Week series where I take the words of fellow parent carers and turn them into pictures
This is the drawing for day 6.

I made an emoji a few months ago to represent solidarity among mobility aid users; I hope someone out there will enjoy it.

It's not comprehensive of all aids and needs out there, but it was for my friend @icarus (walking cane user) and myself (white cane user).

I would like credit if you use it in your instance. Please name it "disabled_solidarity".

I hope @Curator can add it to .ART :)

Snow! We didn't get any snow last winter and I'm still mad about it, especially because the spring is already too hot and too variable. Enjoy some snow from 2022!

Grayscale is really fun for flowers because you get to see delicate structures that might otherwise get obliterated by their bright colors. Peony petal with dew, cellphone #
