Just finished drawing my annual bird for my grandmother's birthday card: an Anna's Hummingbird.

My grandmother is in her 90s now. I think most of the family is surprised she's made it another cycle, but I hope she can go a few more.

A pencil and colored pen drawing of a male Anna's Hummingbird. It is perched at the top of a tangle of thorny sticks, its body a bit puffy, wings folded in, and turned to show off its bright pink and purple face feathers.

Added new homemade bird stickers in my shop :>
Will they arrive at your place before Christmas? tbh I'm not sure.
But I hope you still like them!

Homemade holographic bird stickers with a Christmas theme. There is a partridge perched on a bell, a red cardinal holding holly leaves with its beak, a blackbird perched on a Christmas stocking, a brown french hen wearing a Santa hat while sitting near a wrapped gift, and two swans crossing their necks in a shape of a heart under a mistletoe.
Three homemade sticker sheets of various types of pigeons and doves.

Counter-Earth - The Witchbird. # # # # # # # # # # # # #

A species of three-headed carrion fowl common to Ezkeel, the farthest moon of Clarion. The Witchbird, so-named because of its distinctive bony crests and head-plumage that superficially resemble stereotypical witch hats, flies above the barren, rocky terrain of its small world searching for carcasses to devour.

Autumn Owl

Nothing like a wise owl to keep me company on a crisp autumn day. Such a cool experience, I really enjoy seeing owl's out in nature and truly enjoyed photographing this barred owl resting while traveling the Natchez Trace in north MS.

"Exercise bird II"

The first bird drawing was quite okay, but since I stumbled across @loren yesterday I wanted to try my hand at another bird drawing, this time even with a little color.

Hopefully, the next days my inner eye visits me back and let us paint inner pictures, this reality stuff is really crazy....

Well this ol' bird has lasted longer than expected, I drew it a few years ago in permanent marker, the name, is a complete lie, they are not permanent, not to washing, light, etc. Baffled by who picked the name,🤔

Should I just let this picture fade away or resurrect it with GOOD inks?
Currently it's in storage in my art room, still one of my favourite pieces even though its faded so much. I did ironically name it "forever more" XD

A portrait image of a Blue and Gold Macaw that I photographed at a nearby botanical park and animal habitat venue. These birds are so colorful and beautiful and make great photograph opportunities for any avian enthusiast. An artistic effect was used for a unique finish. Not Ai artwork.

Today I'm sharing my latest phone wallpaper--a Babbler from India and Southeast Asia.

This particular image took me a while--I had a LOT of detail I had to include, and I couldn't rely upon my "cheat brushes" as much as I usually do in Procreate. It turned out cool, though!

Here's the Speedpaint vid:

Enjoy!

Illustrated phone wallpaper of a Babbler bird looking to the right. It perches on a branch of wood. Behind it is a paper texture with a gold gradient at the top and a green gradient at the bottom. Green and purple crosshatching as well as a double-halo of gold light frame the bird and offset it from the background. Light streams in from the top.

This is a Blue Jay, the latest of my phone wallpapers.

Enjoy!

My wife and I went to the botanical gardens and I took the opportunity to draw some dusky moorhens. Still got stickers on the brain. It's not quite there yet but I'm getting my head around it.

Chiffchaff (en), Zilpzalp (de), tjiftjaf (nl) - I love all these names of this cute little bird.

I've got a bunch of ravens to paint soon, and one very large tree painting (that better work this time)

They're for a story I wrote in 2021 with the help of patrons! Teaching myself how to do a large series of connected art.

By now this little one is probably somewhere in sunny Central America sipping on the finest nectar to be found.

A tiny, green bird with a long, thin beak sits on a branch. Its shimmering green back faces the camera, and its head is turned to the left as it looks over its shoulder. The photo is taken mid-fluffing of the feathers, so the bird looks like a little puffball.

A few years ago I spent some hours crouched uncomfortably on a river bank watching a great blue heron bask in the early morning light. It's a bird I see often, but the light and the time I got to spend observing is still one of my favorite memories. This digital painting from last year is one of my efforts to capture that moment.

Collage + acrylics = robin! I find it quite enjoyable to browses through old magazines and catalogues to grab colours and textures for a mixed media piece.

A mixed media piece depicting a Eurasian Robin. The bird is takes up most of the image and is very round. The art style is messy and loose, consisting collaged magazine and catalogue pieces and finished with acrylic paint.

White Tailed Sea Eagle. I'm lucky enough to live near a nesting pair of these amazing birds, I always hope to see them flying overhead.

I've been quite exhausted from last weeks field trips, and there's more scheduled for this week, so I only have this little study to share with you. A coot and some squash buns inspired by a friend's baking from a good while ago.
