In 2020 I started to build Dioramas. I started 4 of them and to this day haven't finished a single one.
BUT, about a week ago I decided to give up on this hobby and somehow that helped with hitting the finish line with the newest diorama, a book nook. The plan is to add cotton wool to cover the LEDs, to create a cloudy landscape and put a glass panel in front.
(The house has light too).

A wooden box a little taller and wider than a Ken Follett book. It shows a hill or mountain covered in autumn coloured iceland moss to simulate trees. The sides are plastered with mirror foil to create the illusion of width. Amidst the "trees" sits a little house with two chimneys, one producing smoke. At the ceiling of the box is an led strip, lighting up the scenery.

Vector Illustration I did for Inkscape's 20th anniversary: of a room in the evening, there's a desk placed in front of an open window with a laptop running Inkscape on it. Outside the window (a black cat on the windowsill) is a fantastic landscape with Godzilla, ghosts, a castle, a dragon, a flying bus, crystals etc.

Making a first model using the free SDF Prototyper (V2) add-on for Blender.

The add-on uses Geometry Nodes, and since the UI is a bit quirky, I find it easier to change parameters and connect nodes directly in Geo Nodes.

Comentator:"Finally, the U-Turn of DEATH!", "U break, U loos, U don't, U die". The three lead vehicles are aproaching a triangular building which seem to be the bow of a partly burried boat. The road goes up the bow and sharply u-turns back on the ground. Ace's and Jasper's cars engage the bow, but Roos collides them and cuts them by the outside, she takes the Lead, watching them slide off the bow with an evil laugh.
The two vehicle slide off the bow and crash into the surrounding desert. Ace and Jasper are on the ground disoriented and their vehicles are destroyed. Ace realises they lost and blames Jasper, they grab him by the collar and fight, while the sun sets as the race continues without them.
Commentator:"Last straight line, Roos is in P1!". A look at the map, the finnish line is in sight for Roos as more of her rivals have crashed along the way. The crowd, now holding signs with the name of Roos, gets agitated. The fire lizzard on the head of the Commentator is flaming: "But look who's comming!?". From a cloud of dust, Ace and Jasper emerge on a wonky patched up vehicle which seems to be made of spare parts from both their destroyed car. Ace points the way forward with excitement. Commentator: "It's Ace!! ...and this other doofus? Two in one car? ILLEGUAL!"
Roos, surprised, looks over her shoulder a sees those two approaching, they pass her on the finnish line with their car that is loosing parts and bolts. A bright yellow flag is waving as Roos receives her torphees, she has won the race. Regardless, Ace and Jasper celebrate as if they just won, holding each other by the shoulder and laughing in their dirty torn clothes. Roos: "You lost, nimrods"

Commentator:"All our racers into position!"<br />Several flag are presented, the sun is shinning bright, the white flag is waved to the starting point of a racecourse where several funky vehicles are aligned ready to go. A driver is introduced: "Ace, Champion". They have round goggles, a high vis shirt with a pink triangle and a pink belt. They are doing the V sign of victory.<br />Another driver: "Roos, Runner-Up", she has curly hair, a bright yellow cape and yellow sun shaped sunglasses, she is waving happily.
Behind Roos, Ace catches the eyes of another driver with bright red hair: "Jasper, Underdog". They lock eye menacingly as they adjust goggles and scarf ready for the start of the race. A kid sat on the shoulder of another fires a bright firework, all the cars depart in clouds of smoke and dust.
Commentator:"First, a jump over nails, a classic tetanos hazard". The cars jump above a broken part of the road. A map view shows the whole route and where various drivers already crashed, indicated by little icons along the route. A bunch of kids are gathered to watch the race, some hold signs saying "Ace", one keeps a score of who's first on a billboard. As some broken car parts comes flying by them, the Commentator, wearing a cap, goggles and a fire lizzard chilling on his head, yells in a megaphone "Need spare parts? There is no pit stop!".<br />Ace is having a cup of tea whilst driving. "P1: Ace". Commentor:"Our champion in the lead!". Ace carelessly discards his cup half full behind him.
Commentator:"Followed by ... this looser". Behind Ace, the cup lands on Jasper's head and splashes him. "P2: Jasper". Jasper angrily yells at Ace who smirks. Behind them avehicle with 3 big lights is following.<br />A look at the map, there is more crashes. Commentator: "Fire lizzards crossing... They ignite if bothered!", "Bad road? skill issue!"<br />Amongst the kids in the public, one girl waves a flag that says "Roos"<br />The 3 lights vehicle approaches. "P3: Roos". Roos has an idea.

From an extended NY State holiday last year. Saw many, many chipmunks. They are everywhere. All the time.

I’ve decided to pursue the elusive ‘loose style’ and am following the advice of the mighty Paul Talbot-Greaves, to hold the brush at the end. I know it’s not complete, but I’m not inclined to do any more. I’d be interested in candid and hopefully constructive comments.
