# after account migration 👋
I'm a professional # I live in the # UK. My # artworks are hand stitched, primarily with hand dyed wool. Using a free hand technique I “paint with thread and yarn”. I'm a # and # # predominantly but also dabble in # My website is https://www.cognissart.co.uk/ if you want to find out more 😊 and here is some of my work 👇

Stitched artwork depicting a dark moorland hillside with a tumble down dry stone wall leading away from the eye. The sun has just set and there is a bright line of sunshine on the horizon beneath grey/purple clouds
Stitched artwork depicting silver birch trees with autumnal bracken in the foreground
Stitched artwork depicting a snow scene with bare trees on the horizon. A stone wall crossed the centre and footprints lead through a gateway in it
Stitched artwork depicting a summer woodland with light and shade. A very breen pallette with tall thin tree trunks in brown/grey. Close mounted in a brown double mount. Viewed on an angle to show texture.

Here’s another odd little duck I showed at the weekend. I find that triptychs offer an interesting dynamic while creating compositions.
Haven’t had much feedback on this one so I’d be interested in what people think.

The series that was rumbling about has emerged: it's called Quietude. And it gets personal. Nothing like art to dig into the why of things. Gah!! The story, on my site: https://www.lizruest.com/2023/new-series-quietude/

A square digital collage called "unexcavated strata". It's a blob of blue on the right, some wide stripes coming in from the bottom left, and a pink background, all with lots of texture.

I love my color paintings! But my first love is pen and ink. Geometrons grew out of pen sketching of spaceship hull patterns! 😊

I find the hardest part to my art practice is getting started everyday, but having small low pressure things that I can do to get started that are the key.

Maybe I can't make a masterpiece today, but I can paint a few circles on a piece of paper.

# # # # #
Photo of abstract artwork. Green circles were painted on paper in various shades, some overlapping, then traced with a thick black marker. The corners were then rounded where the lines from each circle overlap.

"Spores", another piece made using Blender. I also animated this one - will post that too shortly 🙂

🌸 Squiggled Bloom 🌸 A kaleidoscope of colors dances across the canvas, capturing the essence of joy and imagination. 🌸✨ Let your mind wander through this abstract wonderland and embrace the beauty of art that knows no boundaries! 💫 # # # # #
This image is a digital painting titled "Squiggled Bloom" created with Krita. It showcases a vibrant and abstract composition bursting with colors. In the center, a whimsical and intricate arrangement of squiggles and curving lines takes the form of a blooming flower. The petals of the flower exhibit a mesmerizing blend of hues, ranging from fiery oranges and deep purples to soothing blues and lush greens. The background is filled with an array of vibrant brushstrokes, resembling a dynamic and energetic atmosphere. The overall effect is one of joy and creativity, as the artist skillfully captures the essence of a blossoming moment through a playful and colorful abstraction.

Am glad that I can make a friend happy with this painting and frame. She's had such a stressful year that I was afraid she might drop dead with her heart problems. Luckily, she did not and can now hang this up in her new place.

It's called "Old Meadow" and since I photographed it with my big camera, I might be able to have prints made. This is new for me, so I have to try it out first, but let me know if you're interested... :)

"Downstream of Lac La Ronge, the qualms of chert being weaponized"

Tap for detail view.

150 centuries ago chert ( a sedimentary rock composed of microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline quartz) was being turned into weapons as well as tools.

Part of my panpsychism series.

Meteors. Acrylic on 2 30x30cm canvases.
Two energetic paintings using different techniques. Felt very cathartic doing these and was nice to try something different and not full of demons hehe.

I always make some Os for my Out Of Office instagram posts. Here’s O number one. Happy vacation to me!

Drawing of an O in a radially symmetric style. The O consists of many wiggly lines and shapes unevenly colored in greens, oranges and yellows. It looks a little ancient.

So, the artist group I am in is doing journaling/zines.
They gave me a nice white bag with some gelpens!

I suppose that means... I am supposed to customize it? 😜

Gentle, abstract doodles with a sharpie so its wash-proof. (Sharpie Gives me a headache.)
Idk how I will color it in. Posca pens?

Some recent acrylic and pencil abstractness # # #
This is an abstract artwork made up of geometric-ish shapes with a few kind of leafy shapes mixed in. The way the shapes are arranged gives the picture a bit of movement. The style is sort of halfway between drawing and painting. The main colours are an olive green and burnt sienna. Also the drawing was photographed on my painting table which is just a mess of all the colours I’ve used recently because I never clean it.

Took a break from illustration last year, mostly down to mental health, stress, raising my daughter etc. Back to it this year and easing myself in with a series of abstracts based on a recent exhibition (Strange Clay at the Haywood) and adjecent architecture I saw there. This is the first. Posca pens and fineliners in an A6 Seawhite of Brighton sketchbook.

Not sure if Zentangle qualifies as # or #. Probably both. But as the saying goes, "all technicalities count" so here I am.

Most of what I've been posting lately has been abstract patterns. Black and white for now, although once I've finished learning the art form, I'm planning to add colour.
Multiple abstract patterns, some of which resemble real items such as mints and berries, drawn in ink on Bristol board and shaded in pencil.

Abstract oil painting. The paint is thick and textured. A rainbow of colors swirl around in shapes that are lines, rectangles, circles, or rough marks. There are some scratches made into the colors where the artist took a palette knife and scraped the paint away revealing the white canvas. There are some very dark almost black blues and some bright whites. Pale greens dance over from the right and different shades of red from the left.

See? I told you I like to incorporate spirals in my work. The exquisite, perfect spiral of a nautilus shell was the inspiration for "Composition Logarithmique," one of my geometric abstract works, with lush iridescent metallic hues. New painting: Fence Line, oil on wood panel, 40 x 50cm, available through https://artachart.com/ # # # # #
Abstract oil painting on wood panel, 40 x 50cm, depicting a gold and ochre hillside or cliff, with suggestion of dwellings along the ridge and a loose dark line coming down to the foreground. The intent was to give the impression of a fence and gate, but equally, the shapes could form the wreck of a boat on the shore. It's very much up to the viewer. Cloudy sky, with hints of turquoise and orange; splashes of bright orange, gold, turquise and dark brown or umber across the composition.
The same painting, but viewed from further back, hanging on the wall.
