Earlier this year, I had the occasion to design a new logo for the video sharing app @loops 😊

Turning the play symbol into a Möbius strip-like design reintroduces the notion of “loop” into the icon. I also created several animated versions, playing with the infinite construction of the design, for various uses such as loading screens and video idents.

Thanks @dansup for your trust! You can go try the app here: https://loops.video

Any or know a good graphic designer who can help a small UK based club design their logo ? I really don’t want to use AI to generate it and well it’s beyond my skill set. I would also prefer someone who is UK based.

A little update on the baby elephant I'm modeling using the free SDF Prototyper Blender add-on…

Added a few non-SDF elements: the tusks and ears, because the current version of SDF Prototyper doesn't really allow creation of such shapes yet.

Next steps: mesh the SDF object, join with the non-SDF objects, then remesh in Sculpt Mode, and add some minor refinements.

Making a first model using the free SDF Prototyper (V2) add-on for Blender.

The add-on uses Geometry Nodes, and since the UI is a bit quirky, I find it easier to change parameters and connect nodes directly in Geo Nodes.

More updates will follow in this thread.

Here's going to be a start to a thread where I'll be picking out some of my favorite art I've posted to #.

I think I did the leftmost image for a design class when I went back to college for some courses. I believe it was based on the one on the right, which was a personal creature I made for myself back when I was an active artist on #

Judging by the date on the magazine, these were late 2011.

A mockup of a cover to a pet magazine, where the pets are dinosaurs. The title is DinoFancy; it is the premier issue brought to you by Dinosaur Nostalgia Academy, dated December 2011. <br />Article titles include "This year's hot fashions to keep his cold blood warm: Dandy Dinos", of which matches the main image of a green tyrannosaurus rex in a brown hat and brown vest, leaning on a cane. <br />Others include: Top 10 tips, training your tiny T-Rex<br />25 Great Gift Ideas; Editors' top picks, Tough stuff for tough pets, Luxury goodies.<br />Home repair, Easy fixes for dino wear and tear<br />Microceratops and other full-sized genuses.
A drawing of the same T-rex in a slightly different pose, this time on a purple background. He's wearing a burgundy striped tophat and matching jacket with black trim, a monocle over his gold eye, and has a more decorative can under a claw.

I was terrible at noticing or remembering that it was # on the other site, but let's see if I'm better at remembering here.

I'm a graphic designer that specialises in maps, which you can find on my deviantart linked on my profile information.

A green and red map of Regency Era London, specifically the West End. Several streets like Oxford Street and Pall Mall are labelled. The map shows the full shape of blocks and streets, including the fact that most of the building blocks have large yards or gardens in the middle. Around the southern and western edges numerous parks are visible, most of which still exist in modern London but are more surrounded by buildings than in this map. A few locations are numbered, this is because the map is intended for print in a book where these locations are important. Most of them are big squares but a few of them are Regency era gentlemen's clubs or other locations of note.
An isometric map in bright colours, showing fictional tropical islands in a deep, striking green, and the sea in a bright, light blue. The map is labelled Cyensu Islands, and three islands are labelled Cyen, Than, and Ruiy. Pixel art shows several local plants and buildings, most of which are inspired by the flora and architecture of Myanmar in real life.
A detailed map of a country which doesn't exist, the Kingdom of Carniola, set in an alternate history's 1866. The map's style imitates 19th century print maps, with very little use of colour and a lot of old-fashioned fonts. Carniola covers areas part of Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy in real life. The map shows villages, towns, and cities across the Kingdom, with Trieste shown as its capital. The kingdom is shown surrounded by the Kingdom of Hungary on the East and South, the Bohemian Empire to the north, and the Republic of Venice to the West. The map is also decorated with a panel showing the key and a series of flags relevant to Carniola. The colour is misaligned with the lines on all of the flags deliberately, in imitation of overprints found in a lot of cheap printing in real Victorian maps made for public consumption.
A map of an alternate history Europe in around 1860 AD. The map imitates Victorian maps in colour, font, and overall design. Visible differences include some different names for countries, such as Polania instead of Poland, and Hungaria instead of Hungary. The bigger differences involve countries with very different borders to real history, or that no longer existed independently in real history by this time. Instead of Spain and Portugal, the Iberian Peninsula is divided into rough thirds by Portugal, Castile, and Aragon. Aragon also controls most of the western Mediterranean Islands. Ireland, Scotland, and England are all separate independent countries, and England is part of a United Commonwealth with much of the Netherlands. Norway, Sweden, and Poland are all part of a single dynastic union. France extends significantly into western Central Europe. Italy still remains divided between multiple states. Bohemia occupies much of central Europe. Georgia and Alania are independent countries in the Caucasus. There is no Switzerland shown on the image, or Austria, or Prussia.

ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS . (literally, art is long but life is short) is a Latin phrase that means that art takes a long time to learn, but that life itself is short compared to that time. So if you want to learn, start now ;) . # # # # # # # # # # # # # #

DROPLET AMOEBA - Database Entry 💧 Bit of graphic design to give these pieces a proper framing. Most of my drawings and ideas share a connected world & background lore, so I thought I this way I could start with some world building. You know, for fun and stuff.

I have been drawing my entire life. Since I was about 3 or 4. But like many from my generation, we were told you can’t make a living with art. So like many from my generation I sought an unfulfilling career to make money and pay bills. 2022 marks the beginning of my reclamation of MY LIFE MY WAY! #

Late night mograph. A friendly person suggested I make an animated banner, and I'm a very silly person, so I immediately went about updating the one I've got (made in Photoshop a decade ago), but with some additions and alterations. Gonna put the animation and the original still up here in the same post.

Last year I started to really get into more complex backgrounds. Especially urban areas, perspective and less "natural" sceneries were what I wanted to challenge myself at. So I drew my # (as I always do) in their natural surroundings - a modern urban city filled with # puns and references!

I think I actually got some kind of coherent story out of it - completely unplanned!

Warm steamed buns to go - who would be able to resist? A short trip to the local Seven-Magic to get some snacks was definitely not on the To-Do list of CMYK-chan but alas. Some Vector brand Chips spontaneously landed in her grocery bags just like some pop-up gum and glyph shaped fruit gummies. Her girlfriend was in a snacking mood and who would CMYK-chan be if she would refuse her girlfriends secret weapon: her puppy eyes.
"Hurry up you slowpoke! We're gonna miss the train!" RGB-chan yelled, grabbing CMYK-chans hand. The metro to Kerning Road is about to depart, passing through Crop Square and Pixel Street. The sun is about to set, engulfing her girlfriend into a warm atmosphere as she sprints towards the closing doors.
Tapped out - that day way way too long for CMYK-chan. She sunk half asleep onto her girlfriend RGB-chans shoulder while riding the train back home. The sun is setting through the train window, shinining onto the skyline. Every day is just made better spending it with your partner. ❤️
