gouache chickens no 48, 49 & 50.

DM me if you want one of them, A5 size (paper, images themselves a bit smaller), 30€ each including shipping :)

two sketches of chickens on separate sheet of light grey paper seen side by side. the paper has hand-torn edges. both chickens are seen in profile. the one on the left is black, standing in a green meadow and looking to the right, the one on the right is orange-brown, standing on purple-brown ground and looking to the left. Both are extending their wings and stretching their necks upwards. the sketches have clearly delineated edges from where they were framed by tape in the making, but the tape has now been taken off. they are dated, signed and numbered in the bottom
a sketch of a black and brown chicken seen from the front, standing upright and extending its wings all the way behind its back, in front of a background of variegated light browns, greens and a blue sky. like the other two it was made on light grey paper and is dated, signed and numbered in the bottom

I did another quick portrait last night. I will just pretend it was not supposed to look like anyone in particular because it sure does not😂

The other day I batched a dozen beginnings for gouache crab drawings, now I am remembering how much longer it takes to finish one of them than to start it lolsob

A walrus painted on watercolor. BTW, I've noticed that engagement on the fediverse is way down than it was 2-3 months ago. I do hope people return. Personally, I use almost nothing but the fediverse services now: PixelFed, Mastodon, Lemmy. The chronological feed, and finding new users to follow via hashtags, is the only thing that makes sense to me. These recommendation engines on the big social media is a total # of usability. You can never be found there, if the algorithm doesn't like you for any reason.

I painted two paintings that I’m utterly unhappy with and wrote about it on the Nap Time Stories today 🥳

Ok so the challenge I set on Mastodon was choose the style and the medium. You chose gouache and impressionist. So here is The Enchanted Glade. Gouache on cartridge paper. # # # #
A gouache painting in an impressionist style of a glade in the woods with a bright area and a tree and a larger dark tree in the foreground.

I know it’s not Christmas yet but I realised how much I miss living in NZ, so I painted this.

3639 followers on #, 35 likes.

287 followers on #, 35 likes.

That's the best proof that chronological feeds, hashtags, and sharing, DO work.

Recommendation engines do NOT work. They're gatekeeping and biased towards a few accounts only, making everyone else just dumb consumers.

So in addition to #, you can follow me on Pixelfed too if you like my art, since I mostly post there @EugeniaLoli@pixelfed.social

I made this painting last year around this time after coming home from visiting my partner.

While visiting him I bought my first real set of Gouache paints in one of their local art stores! This infact is my first full gouache painting and of course it had to be some dark to light flowers! 🤍🌼

I just wanted to quickly mention that I now have a # account too, so if you like my art, give it a follow: https://pixelfed.social/EugeniaLoli

Pixelfed is like # was 10 years ago: chronological, and tag-based. Organic growth is possible again, thanks to it. Artists like me love that, because it gives us a sense of worth, while IG's recommendation engine (the dreaded "algorithm") picks a few favorites instead only.

Ms. Dumont raised an eyebrow.
“The suit of armor doesn’t really *go* with the Victorian-haunted-house atmosphere. The owners really are overdoing things. Well, at least I’ll be able to debunk this one quickly.”

From her hiding place, Milly barely suppressed a giggle.
Skeptics were always the most fun

I'd like to thank @dansup for creating Pixelfed. As an artist, for 10 years now I was basing my career primarily on IG, only to see it erode to zero reachability and zero discoverability. IG is a career destroyer now. So when I put all my efforts on Pixelfed, suddenly, I saw growth again! 100 new followers in just 3 weeks! Which proportionally to IG's 0 new followers, given the fewer number of users here, it's a big deal! It feels good again to use social media as it's supposed to be: chronologically, and tag-based. Finally, we can see, and discover things! Things are growing! Again, thank you @dansup for this service, it's awesome!

Hi everyone. I don't know really to say for my first post.
I'm self-taught painter. I practiced # but since... maybe 2 years, I have discovered mixed technique with #
Since this step, I pratice gouache with a lot of pleasure !
So I'm very glad to see another artist on mastodon !
See you 😊

Hello for the warm welcome, everyone ✨ and thanks to have shared my very first post !

Here a paint I did last year, I'm in love with thunderstorm backgrounds : )

Here's a view of my painting kit with a work in progress. I sketch with a mix of gouache, watercolors and ink. I recently moved from half pans to full pans and bigger brushes. As I age my eyesight is getting worse so working at a slightly bigger scale helps. I feel that photography and painting are symbiotic. It's all about deconstructing and reconstructing a scene. The ref photo was taken last fall in upper Millcreek Canyon, Northern Utah, USA.

First day being creative in a while. Felt clunky but happy with results.

First attempt at painting a picture of something with gouache. It resembles a pear so that’s a win! I wanted to practice mixing colours. Had to add the white highlight at the end as forgot to leave the paper clear when I painted. # #
Still life: a gouache painting of a pear lying on its side on a plain light coloured paper. Pear is a mix of greens, yellows and reds.

Here's an old # piece I did! I really enjoyed making this one.

After mudding around with gouaches, I decided to use some of the paint to actually do something pretty, so I looked for some sky photos in Unsplash and found some.
