Also self-boosting is a valid and encouraged strategy for promoting your own posts: lots of folk post for the morning crowd then boost for the evening crowd (or the other way around). It can also help put your prices in your post so that people have that information immediately.

Don't be afraid of being in people's faces. Fedi is very supportive of indie artists and if anyone gets annoyed at you trying to earn a living through your art, that's a 'them' problem.
