Honestly, I know this isn't the best animation in the world, but it took me an hour, and I actually enjoyed the process... that's not happened in a looooong time! 😍

I have been tied up with work today, and have a few chores to go and do now, but I couldn't let the first year of our things.uk Mastodon instance go by without making a little something for it.

It's our tootiversary!

Lovely to be here, and thank you for making me so welcome 😊

I realised something about yesterdays Sparkly Dancer Number 16. The move had a hint of lethargic star jump about it.

They reminded me of someone at the back of PE class, not really wanting to be there, and doing their own thing, but trying to make it fit what everyone else was doing.

There is a chance I'm projecting.

Anyhow, like this.

# and # and also # folks;

I've been very happy with GraphicsGale for my pixel art and tileset making at low resolutions but I've got a cool graphics tablet now begging to be used at larger scale. I've heard # can be used for this kinda thing, but I'd love to hear what what folks are using or even just what Krita users are doing for workflow. Any recommendations or weigh ins welcome.

Hello i'm new here! idk how this all works

Hi! I'm Emily and I created this mastodon.art account with hopes it would motivate me to get back into art and I think is (slowly) working!

I like most things related to art but especially things like # # # and #.

I saw the # and wanted to give it a try but I like to make things complicated for myself -sigh- so...here it is, a messy digital sketch mixing 3 of the images.

#
A digital sketch in black and withe of a feminine elf-looking person looking at the spectator. They have a little bird resting on the index finger of one of their hands while holding sunflowers in their other hand. They have their hair up topped with a flower headdress.

I created this animation last year, and it had a big success on tiktok 😳

It was the only time in my life that one of my artwork was a little ⭐ famous ⭐😳

But then, even if I won 10k followers with this, each artwork made ~200 views 🤷‍♀️🤔

This social media is so strange and I have lost my motivation to publish there 😔

Are there any voice actors here? I'm going to need to cast three roles for an animated short fairly soon and want to put some feelers out.

Anybody have any good books for a 7 year old to start learning how to draw? She especially needs encouragement because, much like her entire family of neurodivergent overachievers, she hates not being good at something. However, she seems really consistently interested in animation and art, so I want to lean into that. Bonus points if the learning/practicing books teach cute things, esp anime, and unicorns lol # # # # #

A few years ago, before The Teenager was a teenager, they were getting bored with a piece they had to practice on the guitar.

As some weird form of motivation we recorded them playing & I promised I'd make an animation for it while they practiced.

This is the result, recently rediscovered.

It's kind of cute.

Together with my wife I run this studio here: https://www.papernoise.net/

We're working both in the field of illustration/animation and UI design for musical hardware and software.

Among other things I like to do this kind of illustration here (an album cover for the Swiss electronic music act Boodaman I did a bunch of years ago).

Stephen from Blender Made Easy does a good job of walking through the process and the final result is pretty cool.

I'm on the lookout for a graphic designer and/or infographic animator, who can design some content for my YouTube channel!

I'm looking for a logo, channel banners, video end cards, and a very short intro transition screen. Additionally looking for someone to work on video thumbnails for me!

Paid work of course, at your own rates. If you would like to work on something like this, do get in touch! :blobfox:

But I've decided it's in a good way.

Production management workers at Walt Disney # Studios are seeking union representation with The Animation Guild–but # is union-busting by refusing to voluntarily recognize them, trying to exclude workers from the unit, and forcing a NLRB election. the studio is playing by a tired anti- # script that hasn't worked at other studios where production has organized, and it won't work here.

🧵 Really psyched I was able to carve out some time to work on my independent project this weekend. Got this whole scene background pretty much ready! Now I "just" need to draw and animate the woman in the bathtub (see previous posts in this thread). I have more or less planned it out, it's just a matter of manual labor now. But then, that's often the case with animation...

# # # # # # # # #
A drawn purple and pink bathroom with both chevron and subway tiles, a hanging ivy plant, a capsule-shaped mirror over the sink, 3 candles on a shelf, and a claw foot bathtub.

🧵 Not a ton of progress to report on my hand-drawn personal animation project, as I've got a lot of paid work at the moment, but I did start concepting the bathroom scene that will be coupled with the ocean bathtub shot I posted. This is a roughly modeled scene in Blender that will serve as a guide for the drawn version. The final won't look anything like this, except structurally.

# # # # # # #
Black and white 3D sketch of a bathroom, with a bathtub, a sink, and dresser drawers with a wine glass and phone resting on top.

🧵 I think of them as "diary" projects because they feel more connected to writing, in my mind, somehow -- and also because they're aesthetically like sketches, and I leave the mistakes in, they're sort of "warts and all." and perhaps even unresolved thoughts made visual.

For this project I actually plan to include handwritten text as well. Here's a 16:9 version of what started this thread. My handwriting will go in the sky.

Most of my work is clean & smooth, but I've always been drawn to rougher, textured stuff as well -- but making anything I liked in that vein felt elusive until my "Lines" project (snippet below). So this new project is building on that, stylistically.

I think of these as "diary" projects, which is weird, because they're not about me per se (I'm not a woman, for one).

🧵 Hey, so this is a weird thing I'm working on, and I'll make this a thread about it over time.

Before this she'll be in her bathtub in her apartment, taking a sexy selfie. Cut to this scene, for reasons that aren't that clear to me, except that this whole thing represents a new way for me to build out a project. I'm committing to compelling images & letting a story or meaning arrive as I go.
